Play! You play! Play now! Go play! Go! Play! Play!
Chip loves to play. And he wants someone to play with him. Ideally, that someone would be either sister, or best off all, both sisters. Mom will do too, but she is usually trying to get someone else to fill the role so she can do something else, like
read a book do laundry.
He loves to go into the basement and build forts with pillows and cushions. After school yesterday, Mare went down with him and they had a great time. Bird joined them after finishing her book. There were beautiful sounds coming from that basement all afternoon while I cooked dinner (the book reading thing is in my dreams.) When I discovered they had been using my sofa cushions, I got a little upset, put them back up and pulled out all the extra pillows we had and then added the old crib mattress for them to jump on. He loved that.
When it was time to eat, Chip was mad that they left. He did not want them to go upstairs. He wanted them to stay and play. I finally convinced him to come up, but as soon as dinner was over, he was opening the door and trying to push Mare through it, all the while insisting she go play with him.
I’m hoping that this continues to develop into solitary play and I might be able to get more stuff done while Chip is awake. Like, I don’t know, maybe scrapbooking… According to their albums, time stopped about a year and a half ago.
